How do you make MySpace icons?

I want to make my own Myspace icons. They are usually 96 x 96 in size. I know I can just take pics and make them that small, but what if I want to animate them. Some people have little clips of movies or tvshows in their icons even. How do I do this? Do I have to download software? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2. "Myspace icons" are called avatars. I use Photo Shop & Paint Shop to make my icons & avatars then I animate them in Animation Shop. You can download a free trial of Paint Shop & Animation Shop at Jasc.com Then after you download it...search google for some tutorials on how to make them & search for some paint brushes for paint shop (deviantart.com is one site) & some free fonts (fontfreak.com is one site). ...& If you want that tiny text they use on most icons & avatars, try searching google for "pixel fonts". I'd explain to you how to make them, but it's too much for me to put on here. Good luck.
